Salzburg, Munich and pure Alpine love
Day trips
If you want to go on a day trip, Lake Waginger See is the perfect starting point.
To the Chiemgau alpine pastures and the most beautiful lakes
The Bavarian Alps with their picturesque villages, green meadows, breathtaking mountain lakes and waterfalls are not far away. How about a trip to the Königssee lake in Berchtesgaden, for example? Cruise across the majestic lake in an e-boat. Or explore the peaks of Bavaria and Salzburger Land on foot, by bike or by cable car. How about the Hochfelln, the Dürrnbachhorn, the sleeping witch or the Schafberg? Enjoy the fresh air, the idyllic Alpine meadows, the incredible views and have a good time on the Bavarian mountain pastures.
You can find tips for hiking routes and bike tours on our website.
Historic towns and castles
If you would like to immerse yourself in history, you can take a trip to Salzburg (30 km), explore the castle, stroll through the Getreidegasse and follow in the footsteps of Mozart. Or how about a trip to the longest castle in Europe? Burghausen is only 30 km away from Waging. Or take a boat trip to King Ludwig’s castle on the Herreninsel on Lake Chiemsee and take an exciting guided tour of the castle (20 km).
Exploring the Bavarian capital
Munich is also only 100 km away. Listen to the famous carillon on Marienplatz, explore the Frauenkirche, enjoy the afternoon in a real Bavarian beer garden, look out over the whole city from the Alter Peter or go shopping.
Fun for young and old
We have several theme parks for families. For example the Babalu in Traunstein (15 km), the Märchenpark in Maquartstein (40 km), the Märchenpark Ruhpolding (30 km) and the Bayernpark in Reisbach (80 km). The Chiemgau Coaster is also great fun for young and old. And at the zoo in Salzburg (30 km) or at Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf near Salzburg (50 km), your children can marvel at animals large and small.
